What is the name for a concrete rural road that looks like a sidewalk?

In northwestern Montgomery County, MD, there are 2 roads left that I know of, both with just a small concrete section left.

Anyway, it's a one-lane road with concrete in the center that resembles a sidewalk, and gravel on the sides. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Answer:
I don't remember what they are called or even if they have a special name, but they were build in the early days of the auto when most people still used horses. The autos would use the smooth concrete road and the horses the gravel because the horses don't fare well on concrete.
