What do I use to seal the crack between my concrete driveway and my concrete foundation.?
The driveway has seperated from it seal to the foundation by about an inch. I am afraid that water gets in between there and seeps in to my basement. What should I use to seal? Quickcrete, caulk, tar?
Answer: Call first to your local home center or lumber yard and ask if they have any 1" backer rod. This is a round styrofoam like pc that you will push down in the crack until there is just about 1/2" of room left at the top of the crack. * Clean debris out of the crack and along the sides of the concrete and foundation. Also ask for a product called NP1, it is a one part sealant that stays flexible and also is a grey color *limestone, so it blends in with concrete well. Ask for it in the small caulking tubes, similar to any kind of caulk. It is what they use on commercial jobs.
Remember you will need a caulking gun to fit the tubes you buy.
They also make a product called SL1 *It is self leveling so I would not recommend it as if your crack is not perfectly level it will all run to the lowest spot in the crack and then pool out over the surface - leave the SL1 to the pro's.
Cut tip of NP1 tube off with knife and then poke hole *use pc. of wire, down through the nozzle into the foil seal of the tube.
Put in caulking gun and let NP1 flow into crack a little at a time until crack is full.
