Has anyone here painted the concrete floor of their home instead of other flooring?

I want to know how you think it looks, and if it was a financially viable way of decorating, rather than tiling for example.

Answer:
Goodness yes...out here lots of people paint their basement floors.

We have a fairly high water table, and understandably, most people would rather not put down anything that could get ruined with water.

Most people use one color of paint though some of my neighbors are a little more creative :). Some have painted a checkerboard pattern that looks like old fashioned kitchen tile ~ one neighbor even painted a tromp l'oeil Persian rug. As for myself, I used terracotta deck paint which was splattered with green & yellow latex paint and blue drips.

The paint cost around $35...it's definitely cheaper than any other product.
