How do I make concrete forms for a decorative project?

I'm looking to make my own pillars out of concrete to replace the rotting wood posts for my patio roof and add Balustrade columns again made from concrete around the patio to give it some pizazz.

What do I need to do to make or buy the forms to do this. I don't want to buy off the shelf pillars and such cause I want unique and I can't afford custom other than if I do it myself. And since I have a tendency to over build I know it will last.

Answer:
If you could find large cardboard tubes, it would be great. Another possibility is to make forms from PVC pipes. They come in many sizes and lengths. You could stick one end into the ground and then fill it with cement.
